Thursday, July 17th - Travel Day

Today we made the grand adventure to Chicago. Although we planned to leave around 9am, we actually didn't make it out of the driveway until after 10:30am. Due to the packing challenges the day before, there was just too much to get done to leave as early as planned. The trip was fairly uneventful aside from some wrong turns. I was trying to take a different route to avoid rush hour traffic and ended up taking a connector highway that took me back to my original route. Ergghhh.

Cora at the beginning of the trip. She thought this face was pretty funny

The girls were thrilled to see Oma, Papa, Auntie Kena and Uncle Petie (Auntie Tootin was at work).

Dad making faces and Kendra smiling so nicely as I demonstrate the smile shutter on my camera. (Are you surprised at these facial expressions?? You shouldn't be!)
We had a yummy dinner of brats and salad and then we went to the park across the street to play. The girls loved the swings and Cora went down the slides quite a few times.

Cora in the swing pretending it is a roller coaster ride!

Disa enjoying the swing. I think this may be the first time she has been in a swing.

After walking/crawling around in the sand, a bath was definitely in order. They loved playing with Oma's measure cups and spoons. After a full day and a nice bath, they went to bed fairly well.
